Maria Jacketti
I have been a writer and writing teacher for nearly thirty years. My books in print include Neruda's Garden, Maremoto: Seaquake, Ceremonial Songs, Heaven Stones, Neruda at Isla Negra, and A Gabriela Mistral Reader.Currently. A panel of literary scholars on NPR referred to me as "the best translator of Pablo Neruda in the English language." I hold a B.A. in Spanish, French, and mass communications from King's College, an M.A. in English from New York University, and a Ph.D. in English/comparative literature from Warnborough College. Aside from writing, I have been teaching a variety of courses at universities and colleges in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, for more than twenty years.
I am a partner with my husband, Wayne Funk, in a grantwriting company, Mountain Laurel Consultants. Visit us at www.montainlaurelconsultants.com. Our previous company was Mountain Laurel (Vibrational) Essences. We made our own flower and gem elixirs, and marketed them in beauty products and room sprays. (That business is no longer in commercial existence, although I continue to make and document essences for the purpose of scholarship.)
Recently, I have become the college academics expert for Collegeparenting.com. I write about academic issues, and general issues of college survival. See www.collegeparenting.com, expert panel.
Finally, I am a graduate of the Silva Method Course, Basic and Advanced.
